US investments in Russia may increase next year

US investments in the Russian economy will advance considerably in 2003, the head of the US Chamber of Commerce in Russia declared at today's third conference of Russian businessmen devoted to practices and outlooks for investments in the Russian economy. He stressed that this forecast was based on the fact that Russia had received the status of the country with a free market economy from the European Union and the USA, as well as on his talks with executives of large US companies.

The US representative noted that the USA supported and approved of the work of the Russian Economy Ministry aimed at eliminating administrative barriers in the economy. They are the main problem, although there have been some positive changes in this direction, he specified.
