Russia to Repay Most of Soviet Debt to Bulgaria Next Week

Russia has promised to repay Bulgaria the majority of its Soviet debt next week. An agreement on this was reached in Sofia during talks between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin and Bulgarian Finance Minister Milen Velchev. The total sum owed by Moscow to Sofia is USD 49.5 million.

Alexei Kudrin was in Sofia on a three-day official visit as part of a Russian governmental delegation headed by President Vladimir Putin. The visit was due to end today.
