Only practical issues, such as Russian oil delivery to the USA, were on the agenda at the 10th plenary session of the Russian-American business elite forum in New York, said Mikhail Khodorkovsky, chairman of the board of the Yukos oil producing company.
"There are both opportunities and will to sell oil to the USA from our part," he said, stressing that there was a certain progress in readiness for fulfilling the idea among the American business circles.
The forum was held last weekend at the Mark hotel in New York, and was closed for the press. More than 50 leaders of Russian, American and European business communities took part in the event. The main result of such forums after 5 years has been the achievement of mutual respect between Russian and American business circles, understanding of each other's interests and of "rules of the game", believes Jeremy Azrael, representative of the research centre RAND Corporation, one of the forum's organizers. Now "any member of the forum - and these are the first people in their companies - can pick the receiver and phone directly his colleague across the ocean," he stressed.
The choice of the city of Helsinki is not incidental as the capital of Finland had hosted US-Soviet negotiations on the limitation of nuclear stockpiles in 1969
