Mitsubishi Motors Corp sales of passenger cars rose 6.5% in September from a year earlier to 39,935 units.

A company tends to think this gain is mainly due to the popularity of its ekWagon minivehicle. Its sales topped the monthly sales target by more than 7,000 units.
