Russia's oil company Tatneft reported a 0.6-percent rise in oil production in May 2002 as compared to May 2001, the company's press service reported. The production volume went up to 2,102,398 tons last month. The volume of Tatneft oil production in January-May dropped 0.4 percent versus the corresponding period last year and amounted to 10,165,499 tons. The total volume of oil production in Tatarstan, one of Russia's republics, amounted to 2,244,669 tons last month as compared to 2,388,589 tons in May 2001 and it reached 11,789,243 tons over the first five months of this year against 11,619,719 tons in the corresponding period of 2001.
