AvtoVAZ increases exports supply plans for 2002 to 95,000 cars

AvtoVAZ, a Russian car maker, increased its exports supply plans for 2002 to 95,000 cars, the press center of the automobile factory reported. According to preliminary plans, around 90,000 cars were expected to be sold in foreign countries, however, this figure was revised upward owing to the increasing demand for VAZ cars abroad. The company's Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Technical Maintenance Vladimir Kuchay was quoted as saying that the importers' demand exceeds the Russian car maker's supply. The leaders of export sales in terms of the number of units sold are the cars of VAZ-2110 series and Niva off-road cars. At the same time, the company's Vice President pointed out that AvtoVAZ would not increase its export supplies sharply, since the satisfaction of the domestic car market remained the company's priority.
