675 million Russian roubles (approximately €20 million) have been allocated from the Russo-Belarussian Union's budget to fulfil the programme for 2002-2005 of equipping the Union's external borders.
The figures were cited Wednesday at a Moscow press conference devoted to the course of realisation of Russian-Belarussian programmes.
The project's priority is to ensure protection of Russian and Belarussian national interests, security of individuals, society and the Union's member states in their border zones.
The programme envisages creation of a number of frontier outposts, as well as of modern information centres for operational control of frontier troops.
Moreover, it provides for building military towns and accommodation for servicemen, creation of the border infrastructure, as well as for new engineering and technological equipment of the state border.
