Shell Oil Names New American CEO

Noojin, who has worked at Shell for 33 years, will begin immediately overseeing Shell's American power generation assets and natural gas interests as head of Shell US Gas and Power LLC.

Most recently, he headed Shell's effort to acquire Texaco's U.S. refining, marketing and transportation interests. Shell and partner Saudi Aramco purchased many of Texaco's consumer interests, including service stations and other Texaco products, in a deal that closed in February. Nearly 13,000 U.S. Texaco stations eventually will become Shell stations, close or be sold.

He succeeds Curtis Frasier, who has moved to the legal department with Shell International.

Noojin also has worked as an executive for Shell Chemical Co. and Shell Oil Products Co., as well as in manufacturing, engineering and corporate planning for Shell, whose U.S. operations are based in Houston.

Shell Oil Co. is a wholly-owned member of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, the world's third-largest petroleum company. It owns Shell Oil Products U.S., which formerly was Equilon, as well as operates a refining and marketing venture with Saudi Aramco called Motiva.
