At an extraordinary shareholders' meeting, shareholders of Sibir Airlines will make a decision on attracting a credit for upgrading the aircraft fleet of the company. As the press service of the airlines reported, the plans of attracting a credit had been voiced by the Sibir's management about a month ago. This was when the leadership of the company recommended the board of directors to discuss this issue. Representatives of the Russian Property Ministry voted against the credit at a meeting of the board. As the company pointed out, according to its articles of association, Sibir's shareholders could approve such a deal even in the even its board of directors were against it.
In the first nine months of 2002, Sibir Airlines carried almost 2.144 million passengers, which was 1.4 times more than in the corresponding period of 2001. Sibir's air fleet consists of 40 jet liners produced in Russia.
