The volume of World Bank's investments in the economy of Russia reaches $20.5bn, i.e. 5% more compared to 2002, Vice Director of the World Bank in Russia Richard Clifford declared today. According to him, the bank's investments mainly go to the fuel and energy complex, agricultural and environmental spheres as well as to the federal government. Clifford stressed that the bank intends to further collaborate with Russia not only on the federal level, but on the regional as well. Among the programs which are supposed to the implemented by the World Bank over the next three or four years are a program of support of the government project aimed to improve the demographic situation in Russia, programs in the medical sphere, projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Russian economy and some environmental programs.
