Hunger strike at Norilsk Nickel gathers pace

At its today's meeting, the association of Norilsk Nickel trade unions decided to join the hunger strike of the federation of trade unions of Norilsk Nickel, head of the trade union federation of Norilsk Nickel's Polar Division Valery Melnikov reported to RBC. According to him, the number of participants of the strike increased from 28 to 50.

A joint statement by the two trade unions points out that actions of the company's top management violate major constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, for example, if employees decide to be more active in their protest action, the company will take up duplicate staff.

The main demand of trade unions is to increase salaries by 14 percent and to provide additional paid vacations.
