A workgroup to effect cooperation between Russia's government and the World Bank will be set up in Russia. It will include representatives from Russia's Ministries of Agriculture and Economic Development and Trade. According to the government's Department of Information, this was decided today during a meeting of Alexei Gordeyev, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, with Julian Schweitzer, the World Bank's Director in our country.
The parties discussed the perspectives of the World Bank's participation in a number of commercial projects to stimulate the development of Russia's agriculture and the construction of ports at the Azov Sea and in the lower parts of the Don River to export grain from Russia.
Mr. Gordeyev said, a number of joint projects concerning land-related issues and the new law 'On Agricultural Lands Trade' were also touched upon.
The choice of the city of Helsinki is not incidental as the capital of Finland had hosted US-Soviet negotiations on the limitation of nuclear stockpiles in 1969
