Russian Imports On The Rise

Russia's imports in the period between January and October of this year totaled 42.854 billion dollars, marking a $7.236-billion increase against last year's figure. These statistics have been posted Monday on the Central Bank of Russia web site. According to the Central Bank, Russia's imports from outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (or the CIS) in the first nine months of 2001 amounted to 31.891 billlion dollars whereas the same period of the previous year saw the figure at the $24.868 bln. mark.
