RAO UES to help housing and communal sector

RAO UES chief Anatoly Chubais has addressed to the general directors of energy companies asking them to render assistance to enterprises of the housing and communal sector in preventing and eliminating the aftermath of incidents on facilities of the communal sector, the mass media department of RAO UES told RosBusinessConsulting.

Chubais pointed out that on the whole the unified Russian energy system was working stably in the 2002-2003 fall-winter season, due to preparations of the energy holding's enterprises for this season.

Earlier, RAO UES declared that incidents at the facilities of the communal energy sector were due to poor preparations of the housing and communal sector for this winter and violations of technological processes. The energy holding also liked them to the difficult financial situation in the communal energy sector, which owed 33.4bn rubles ($1.05bn) to RAO UES.

The energy production in Russia in the period from January 1 to 7, 2003 amounted to 15.58bn kilowatt/hour, which was 210m kilowatt/hour more than in the corresponding period of last year.
