VimpelCom to obtain license for North-Western District of Russia

VimpelCom, one of the largest Russian mobile telecommunications servicesoperators, will obtain a license for providing its GSM-1800 services in theNorth-Western District of Russia. As the company's press service reported,the License Commission of the Russian Communications Ministry made adecision to issue a GSM-1800 license for VimpelCom-Region, the company'ssubsidiary based in the North-Western District. According to this decision,VimpelCom expects to obtain the license in the near future. The company'slicenses for providing mobile services cover 70 percent of the populationof Russia (101.1m people), including Moscow and the Moscow region, whileafter the company obtains the specified license, it will add another 9percent of potential Russian subscribers (13.7m people)..
