A total of 191,492 cars rolled off the assembly lines of the Gorky Automobile Factory (GAZ) last year. As RBC got to know from the factory's press service, this output is comprised of 80,692 passenger vehicles and 110,800 cargo vehicles including 21,597 minivans. Apart from various cars, GAZ supplied its partners with 8,825 sets of car components and produced spare parts for an amount of RUR1.5bn (about $49.3m), which is 26.2 percent more in comparable prices than in 2000. This year the factory's production dropped by 36,181 vehicles as compared with 2000 due to a shift in the settlement policy with dealers at the beginning of 2001 and the manufacturing of preordered automobiles only to prevent overstocking. The production target of GAZ for this year is 201,529 vehicles.
