Russia Intends to Play Active Role in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Programmes

Russia intends to play an active role in the work of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) programmes, contributing to the economic integration of the Asia-Pacific region. This was spoken of in President Putin's message to Mexican President Vincente Fox.

As announced by the press-service of the Russian President, Putin thanked President Fox for the invitation to take part in the tenth meeting between leaders of member countries of APEC, which will take place in Los Cabos on October 26 and 27, 2002. The Russian President believes that the APEC summit in Los Cabos will aid further development of economic links between Russia and the Latin American members of the forum, primarily with Mexico.
