The 8th international specialised exhibition "Metal-Expo 2002" opens on Tuesday in Moscow, the exhibition's organising committee reported.

After eight years of existence, the Metal-Expo is playing the leading role among metallurgy exhibitions held in Russia and the CIS and has become a traditional place for meetings and business contacts between metal producers and consumers from all over the world.

Among 600 participants in the present exhibition are leading Russian enterprises in the industry, such as Severstal, the Novolipetsk metallurgy plant, YevrazHolding, Mechel and others. Large iron and steel companies from 40 countries are also taking part in the event.

This year the exhibition will award gold and silver "Metal-Expo 2002" medals on leaders, experts and personnel of metallurgy enterprises, as well as of scientific and research institutes for high-tech developments, company modernisation and technical re-equipment.

The exhibition will be open till November 22nd.
