International Economic Forum in Davos Will Tackle Kaliningrad Problem

The International Economic Forum opens today in the Swiss town of Davos. Fearing demonstrations from anti-globalisation protesters, the Swiss authorities have intensified security measures. UN General Secretary Kofi Annan and NATO General Secretary George Robertson are both expected to take part at the forum. Representing Russia at the Davos forum will be Russian Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref and Presidential Economic Advisor Andrei Illarionov.

Two thousand representatives of governments and business from 99 countries are expected to participate at the forum. The main topic of discussion will be the renewal of trust in international relations after the terrorist acts and the economic problems of recent years. One of the main issues to be discussed by Russian representatives at the forum will be the problems of Russia's relations with the EU and NATO. The Kaliningrad question will certainly be discussed as well as Russia's prospects for entry into the WTO.
