Today, the topic of the discussion during the work of World Economic Forum in Davos is relations between Russia and the European Union

On Saturday, the third working day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the participants will open the discussions dedicated to Russia with the topic of relations between Russia and the European Union, informed the sources in the organizational committee of the WEF.

Apart from the above-mentioned issues, the discussions on the Russian theme include the accession of Russia to the WTO, and the role of the Russian Federation in the global economy and on the global energy markets.

From the Russian side, during the discussions, the forum will be addressed by Minister of Economic Development and Trade German Gref, the RF president's adviser on economic issues Andrei Illarionov, chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on Foreign Affairs Mikhail Margelov and other Russian politicians and statesmen. Before addressing the plenary session of the Davos Forum dedicated to Russia, Mikhail Margelov pointed out in his interview with RIA Novosti: "It's good to realize that this year Russia is not a separate problematic issue to be discussed. Our country participates in the work of the 33rd WEF in Davos on the same level as other civilized countries. It's a normal and regular participant, the same as, for example, the United States or Luxembourg".

The participants of the WEF are also eagerly anticipating the plenary session dedicated to the issues of security in the energy industry and oil exports. During this session, the Russian side will be represented by head of one of the largest Russian oil companies - Yukos - Mikhail Khodorkovsky. It is expected that Saudi minister of petroleum and mineral resources Ali Ibrahim al-Naimi will attend this plenary session. Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producer both in the framework of the OPEC and in the world overall.

The agenda of the meeting on energy also includes the problems of the use of nuclear energy.

2,350 delegates participate in the work of the WEF in Davos. They include prominent politicians and statesmen, businessmen, scientists, religious figures and also the representatives from, financial, cultural and art circles.
