Another round of negotiations on Russia's accession to the WTO will open in Geneva today. Russian officials will hold bilateral negotiations with representatives of eight countries for access to the market of goods and negotiations with representatives of four countries for access to the market of services for a week. In addition, on February 28, participants of the negotiations will have a multilateral meeting devoted to regulations in border areas, special economic zones inside Russia, closed territorial units and the protection of cultural monuments.
According to Russian Deputy Economy Minister Maxim Medvedkov, Russia still insists on having the right to continue special favorable trade regulations with its CIS trade partners. He explained that Russia wanted to reserve the right to provide more favorable conditions for supplies to the CIS than other future WTO partners.
