Ural Delegation in Germany

The delegation from the Ural Federal Region is currently visiting Germany, the purpose of the visit being the participation in a conference on the region's investment opportunities. Yesterday the members of the delegation met with the authorities of the Gessen province. As a Rosbalt correspondent has learnt at a local information centre, the province's Prime Minister Roland Koch and the Russian President's Plenipotentiary in the Ural Region Petr Latyshev had exchanged their views on further economic, political and cultural cooperation between their respective regions. Both parties have agreed that the Ural delegation's visit to Germany is yet another step toward closer relations between Russia and Germany, the relations that have been steadily improving over the last few years. Mr. Latyshev and Mr. Koch have concluded that both regions have high investment potential that could be used constructively to serve the interests of the two countries. The President's Plenipotentiary emphasised that a lot of steps had been taken in the Ural Region recently to establish a favourable investment environment and provide legal protection to investors. In his turn, Roland Koch agreed that those measures could become a good enough incentive for more intense economic cooperation. The two officials also shared their experiences as concerns to federalism and local self-governing in Russia and Germany.
