'We hope to keep their shares in the Roshelf company, and together with Gazprom to develop the Prirazlom and Shtokmanovsk oil fields,' announced LUKoil President Vagit Alexperov on Monday at an internet press-conference. He also said that the oil company plans to begin the construction of a petroleum storage complex in Murmansk in 2005, for which a transit link will be built to the oilfield at Yamala.
LUKoil was registered in 1993. It has authorized capital stock of USD 681,104.45, which is divided into 850,563,255 shares. The main functions of the company are petroleum and gas extraction, and the manufacture and selling of petroleum products. Company organisations carry out 24% of the total volume of petroleum extraction in Russia and 18% of petroleum refining.
The choice of the city of Helsinki is not incidental as the capital of Finland had hosted US-Soviet negotiations on the limitation of nuclear stockpiles in 1969
