VimpelCom chooses new advertising agency

The BBDO international agency has won a tender for providing advertising services to VimpelCom, one of the leading mobile operators in Russia, the VimpelCom press service reported. Before 2003, VimpelCom was using advertising services of D'Arcy agency, however, in the fourth quarter of 2002 the operator decided it needed fresh ideas for further promotion on the market. Currently BBDO is completing the fulfillment of an order for MegaFon, one of the competitors of VimpelCom. MegaFon is also looking for a new advertising agency, and five agencies are taking part in a tender organized by this company. According to information from the RPRG marketing agency, VimpelCom spent $11.8m on advertising in 2001.
