Russia and Bulgaria may establish a joint enterprise for selling Russian electricity to Eastern European countries. Rosbalt has learnt that the issue of setting up a joint enterprise by the end of the year will be examined by Russian electricity giant UES of Russia and the Bulgarian company NEK-EAD. The matter was also discussed on Friday, January 24 at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation between Russian and Bulgaria. The commission is chaired by Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin and his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolai Vasilev.
The issue of collaboration over the reconstruction of the Kozloduy nuclear power station in Bulgaria was also discussed at the meeting, as was the creation of a company to supply Russian electricity to Bulgaria itself.
