Sphere of Interests of European Business Club in Russia Keeps Growing

The annual common meeting of the members of the European Business Club in the Russian Federation has elected its new Board, re-electing Finland's Seppo Remes for another term as its Chairman. Ms. Irene Commeau from France has become the new Managing Director.

In 2001, the number of the members of the European Business Club in Russia grew to 500. Also grew the club's sphere of interests. More than 80 business meetings, seminars and conferences touching on the issues most interesting to the business community were held over the past year. The club's press service noted that the new trend of holding conferences under Invest in Russia motto in European capitals has proved a great success. Such conferences have been so far held in Paris, Berlin, and Brussels during the visits there of Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

The European Business Club in the Russian Federation was founded in 1995 on the initiatives of a number of foreign companies accredited in Moscow, the ambassadors of the EU member countries, and the head of the representative office of the European Commission in Moscow. The club employs European and Russian analysts to provide legal, financial, and economic consultations to Russia's officials and its members. The Business Club in Russia functions in the interests of its members while maintaining close contacts with the European Union.
