VimpelCom reports rise in net profit in Q2

The net profit of VimpelCom, the second largest cellular operator on theRussian market, amounted to $21.941m in the second quarter of 2002, whichwas 133.1 percent more as compared to the corresponding period of 2001 whenthe net profit reached $9.414m, a source in the company reported. The netoperating revenues hit $173.381m in the second three months of this year,thus increasing 83.1 percent against the corresponding period in 2001(VimpelCom's net operating revenues were at $94.679m in the second half of2001). The company's EBITDA amounted to $71.757m in the second quarter, or100.1 percent more than in the corresponding period last year. The EBITDAmargin of VimpelCom was registered at 41.4 percent, which was 9.2 percentmore as compared to the second quarter of 2001..
