USA intends to develop cooperation with Russia in oil and gas area

Russia is a growing energy producer. It has increased its exports of gas and oil not only to Western Europe but also all over the world, said press secretary of the White House Ari Fleischer.

He told reporters about it, having underscored that the growth of Russian oil and gas exports is to be explained by the discovery of new energy resources in the country and its increased potential in developing these deposits.

We hope to continue our cooperation with Russia, said the press secretary of US President George W. Bush, having reminded the reporters that the energy issues were discussed during the recent visit by the head of the White House to Saint Petersburg and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Ari Fleischer, at that meeting the Presidents also spoke about the importance of a reliable legal basis which is necessary to ensure favourable investment climate for such cooperation.
