Japanese company first plans to import vegetables from Russia

A Japanese cooperative consisting of nineteen small trade companies plans to start, beginning this autumn, importing vegetables from Russia. As a RIA Novosti correspondent reports, the Nichiryo cooperative from the city Osaka will be the first operator on the Russian agricultural market.

In the opinion of the cooperative's managers, the supplies from Russia can become a good addition to the import from China which has become an important source of agricultural products for Japan in the past two-three years.

At the first stage, Nichiryo plans to confine itself to import cabbage from the Maritime Territory. It is intended to purchase approximately 240 tons of cabbage a month. It is planned to then broaden the assortment due to potatoes and carrots.
