VimpelCom's Subsidiary Establishes Cellular Network In Belgorod

VimpelCom-R, which is in the VimpelCom group, put a regional cellular network into operation in Belgorod, a source in the press service of the cellular company reported to RosBusinessConsulting. The main aim of VimpelCom-R is to establish cellular networks in the Central region of Russia in 2001, Director General of the company Alexey Mishchenko said. The next step is to establish cell networks in the South federal district of Russia and Siberia. As of now, there are eight base stations in the Belgorod region. They all are connected to the Voronezh switchboard. An additional 40 base stations are supposed to be established in the region in 2002.
