Russian-South Korean commission discusses investments and trade

Cooperation in the spheres of investments and trade between Russia and South Korea is the main item on the agenda of the session of a bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific-and-technical cooperation, which opened in Moscow on Thursday.

According to a source in the Russian ministry of economic development and trade, repayment of Russia's debts for the credits South Korea had granted to the former Soviet Union will not be discussed.

"This matter does not fit into the format of the intergovernmental commission," said the source. "It will be coordinated between the finance departments of the two countries." This year, according to the ministry of economic development and trade, the volume of bilateral trade between Russia and South Korea will remain at the level of 2.8-2.9 billion dollars.

The first, second, and third sessions of the commission in question took place in Seoul in July 1997, in Moscow in May 1999, and in Seoul in February 2001 accordingly.
