Thanks to President Putin's efforts, Russia has become part of the international community not only in the fight against terror but it has evolved into a real partner of the modern world. President and founder of the Davos economic forum said as much Monday at the forum's 15th visiting session. He stressed that the September 11 tragedy in the United States had drastically altered the world. In particular, Schwab said, it has changed the way of thinking of those who take interest in Russia. Klaus Schwab particularly emphasised that Russia's successful economic performance made it attractive for business. This, he said, was one of the reasons behind the decision to hold a visiting session of the Davos forum in Moscow and devote it to Russia's economy. Klaus Schwab noted that Russia was conducting consistent reform and taking other measures to attract foreign and domestic businessmen. Opening the meeting, director of the World Economic forum on Europe and Central Asia Thierry Malleret stated that the current forum was designed to show that Russia had seen numerous changes for the better. Besides, we want to make sure that this process is quite independent, he noted. In addition, this forum seeks to encourage the dialogue between business and political circles, Malleret added. The forum's initiators remarked that it would unfold mainly in the form of a seminar and in an informal atmosphere. We will consider an entire range of issues dealing with the improvement of the investment climate in Russia, noted Malleret. The latter also expressed confidence in the success of the current forum.
