Evgeny Primakov Rejects US Complaints about Russian-Iranian Collaboration

Yevgeny Primakov, the president of the Russian Chamber of Trade and Industry, declared on Thursday in an interview with journalists that any US complaints about Russia concerning bilateral Russian-Iranian collaboration in the sphere of atomic energy 'do not have any basis at all'.

Primakov said that Russia 'is helping and will continue to help with the construction of an atomic energy plant in Busher'. 'We are installing light water reactors there, similar to the ones that the US wanted to install in North Korea,' the head of the Chamber of Trade and Industry added. According to Primakov, the Russian side is not engaging in any activities that could help the development of weapons of mass destruction in Iran. 'The Russian experts are working under the full control of the International Atomic Energy Agency,' said Primakov. The programme for trade and economic development between Russia and Iran up to 2012 envisages the construction of several nuclear power stations in Iran.
