Putin comments on raising teachers' salaries

Regional administrations and the federal government fail to fulfil theirtask properly and raise teachers' wages, President of the RussianFederation Vladimir Putin declared at a meeting with teachers from a school in the Kostrova village of the Istra district of the Moscow region. According to him, teachers' wages will be almost doubled this year, "and we should do our best to have this money paid everywhere." Putin was quoted as saying that "frankly speaking, he wasn't expecting the regions and the government to succeed here." Nevertheless, he made this decision about the increase in teachers' salaries "on purpose, to make themdo something."
