Russian President's Wife Meets With Disabled Children

On Thursday, the Russian president's wife, Lyudmila Putin, visited an exhibition arranged by the Krasnodar regional public organisation of incapacitated children and born invalids Inva-Studio. Attending the studio, which opened in 1993, are 500 kids. They do mostly icon painting, for which they got the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II. The exhibition shows icons, paintings and glassware by studio goers. After the event, Lyudmila Putin met with children taking part in the 1st international children's film festival Baby Cinetaurus, which is taking place in Sochi from November 1 through 10. Children representing all Baby Cinetaurus delegations from across Russia attended the meeting. They come mostly from boarding schools and children's homes, or have lost their fathers in the antiterrorist operation in the Chechen Republic.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
