Russia is interested in an early settlement of the political crisis in Georgia, the deputy head of the pro-government Unity faction in the lower house of the Russian parliament has said in a RIA Novosti interview. "We are interested in having normal relations with Georgia and in not being attacked by Chechen terrorists from Georgian territory," Vladislav Reznik said. He said Russia "takes a balanced position in its relations with Georgia" and expressed the wish that Tbilisi do the same with regard to Moscow. "President Eduard Shevardnadze cannot fail to understand that Georgia is unable to solve its problems without having normal relations with Russia," Reznik said.
