Vladimir Putin discusses ways to cut off terrorists' financial channels

President Vladimir Putin of Russia held a working meeting Thursday with director of the Federal Tax Police Service (FTPS) Mikhail Fradkov. Press secretary of the Russian president Alexei Gromov reported that Fradkov submitted information on key results of the tax police operation in conditions of the new Penal Code. He noted that the process of adaptation to qualitatively new requirements is currently underway. According to him, the new Penal Code makes an accent on courts, which encourages the tax police to work more efficiently.

The FTPS director also noted that the number of instigated cases had diminished. At the same time, the number of cases submitted to courts increased. The number of verdicts of "guilty" also augmented.

According to the press secretary, the president was also submitted proposals to improve the applicable legislation in terms of providing conditions for paying taxes by major vertically integrated companies on time and in full.

In the course of the meeting a special attention was attached to cutting off channels of terrorism financing and legalisation of criminal proceeds.
