Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday signed a decree naming Gennady Fadeyev as Russia's Railways Minister. Fadeyev replaces retiring Nikolai Aksyonenko. A criminal case was brought against Aksyonenko over his financial irregularities. Putin, his press-service said, had a meeting with Fadeyev and signed the decree on his appointment. Gennady Fadeyev was born in 1937 and between 1992 and 1996 held the post of railways minister. Since 1999 he has been chief of the Moscow Railway.
