RSFSR President's Decree "On the Bureau of the Svoboda/Svobodnaya Evropa independent radio station " declared invalid

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared invalid Decree #93 of the President of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) "On the Bureau of the Svoboda (Liberty)/Svobodnaya Evropa (Free Europe) independent radio station" dated August 27, 1991.

The Head of State signed the aforementioned Decree in accordance with the Russian Federation law "On the Mass Media." Under the eleven-year-old presidential decree, the management of the independent radio station Svoboda/Svobodnaya Evropa was given a permission to open a permanent bureau in Moscow with correspondent on the territory of the RSFSR.

The Russian Foreign Ministry faced the task of issuing licenses to the correspondents of the independent radio station Svoboda/Svobodnaya Evropa and providing for their free journalistic activity on the territory of the RSFSR.

The Moscow Mayor had to provide a building in Moscow to the bureau of the independent radio station Svoboda/Svobodnaya Evropa, while the Ministries of Press and Communications were to provide the necessary information channels.
