The Federation Council intends to initiate draft laws on development of the economic potential of the Russian Far East, said Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov in the Maritime Territory. The Speaker is making a tour of seven regions of the Russian Far East.
As the press centre of the territorial administration reported, the Speaker of the Upper House of Russia's parliament plans to study in detail the economy of the Maritime Territory.
Sergei Mironov arrived in the Maritime Territory after visiting the Khabarovsk Territory, the Magadan and Sakhalin Regions.
At a news conference in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sergei Mironov said that at the present time an experiment was being made for the possible amalgamation of the country's regions. However, it is too early to speak about amalgamating all the regions.
The programme of Sergei Mironov's tour of the Maritime Territory provides for his visit to the Arsenyev aircraft-building company Progress and meetings with governor of the Territory Sergei Darkin and members of the regional Legislation Assembly.
