A meeting is being prepared in Brussels between Russian President Vladimir Putin and George Robertson, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
A NATO spokesman has said this on condition of anonymity, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports. He refused officially to confirm the date and place for the meeting but promised to do so very soon.
Vladimir Putin will arrive in Brussels Monday for one day to participate in the Russia-European Union summit. His meeting with Robertson was not officially scheduled.
The sides showed interest in holding such a meeting, said the spokesman of NATO. Russia is NATO's privileged partner and both sides seek to use every possibility of contacts, he said.
There is no preliminary agenda for the Putin-Robertson conversation, and they will consider all matters they deem necessary, said the NATO representative. There will clearly be problems related to the forthcoming NATO summit in Prague, the state of cooperation within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council, preparations for a December session of the council in Moscow, he said.
The Kremlin has confirmed to RIA Novosti the information on the preparations for the meeting.
