Russian MPs applauded to the news about Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.
"Dear friends, dear colleagues, three minutes ago Hillary Clinton acknowledged her defeat in the US presidential election of the United States, and a second before, Trump began his speech as president-elect of the United States of America, and I congratulate you all on that," RIA Novosti quoted MP Vyacheslav Nikonov as saying.
In response, members of the State Duma began to applaud.
Trump received 274 electoral votes after a victory in Pennsylvania. 270 votes were required to win.
