Public Council For Russia's Joining Wto Calls To Be Reasonable In Solving Issue

The Public Council for Russia's Joining the WTO called on the government to be reasonable in solving the issue of entering this organisation. The Council delivered an address to Russian entrepreneurs, which noted that the country would need some time to prepare for opening the domestic market, especially in those economic branches which are objectively non-competitive compared with imported goods. That is why, the authors of the address stress, the terms of joining the WTO, which a number of members of this international organisation insist on, can lead to a situation when foreign producers would have more privileged conditions in the struggle for the Russian market. The authors of the address suggested to develop a draft of the government's special programme to upgrade competitiveness of the most vulnerable sectors of the Russian economy.
