Russia complies with the requirements of The Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer, said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov on Thursday when opening a regular government session.
The government will today consider measures for fulfilling these requirements by federal executive bodies and managing subjects.
In 2001 Russia ceased the production of ozone destroying substances, and intends to eliminate all such products by 2006, Kasyanov stressed.
Yet this has a negative influence on the industry, he added. In particular, ozone-destroying substances are contained in refrigerators, air-conditioners, fire-extinguishing means, and others.
Today the government will consider complete fulfillment of the measures to prevent the depletion of the ozone layer, the Premier added.
