Putin Satisfied with Results of Russia-EU Summit

'We are satisfied with the results of the EU-Russia summit,' announced Russian President Putin at a press conference in Brussels after the conclusion of an EU-Russia summit. Mr Putin said that the summit had involved a 'thorough, sometimes heated but wholly constructive' discussion about Russia-EU relations. Both sides showed 'a clear determination to find positive solutions to a number of crucial issues.'

The president said that a solution had been found to the problem of 'transit travel to Kaliningrad.' He also said that 'experts had tirelessly worked on finding a solution to this problem.' Mr Putin described the final solution as 'favourable to us.'

Mr Putin also commented on the positive development of economic cooperation between Russia and the EU. The president added that the two sides had agreed to 'clear the way' towards closer trading relations and an 'agreement was signed on the Middle-East problem.' Also discussed was the problem of international terrorism as well as cooperation in the energy industry.

More than 5.8 million people voted for Nicholas Maduro at the presidential election in Venezuela. This is more than a quarter of registered voters. Why did those people vote for the man, who, as Western media write, took Venezuela to the brink of collapse?
