The State Duma has passed amendments to the article 156 of the federal lawon advertising on the second reading today. The document envisagesrestrictions on beer and alcohol advertising. According to the amendments,beer advertising must not produce the impression that drinking beer playsan important role in achieving public, sport or personal successes orimproves physical and psychological condition. Moreover, advertising mustnot discredit people who do not drink beer; it must not contain informationthat beer does not bring harm to health or that it is healthy.Beer advertising must not be broadcasted on TV and radio in the period from17:00 to 22:00 and it must not be advertised by prominent public personsand politicians. Moreover, beer advertising must not be disseminated inmass media sources, whose specialization is health and environmentalprotection and education.
