Russian Division In Tajikistan Is Not Preparing Peacekeepers For Afghanistan

Commander of the 201st Russian motorised division, deployed in Tajikistan, colonel Yuri Perminov refuted reports by some media that this military unit is preparing peacekeepers for taking part in operations on Afghan territory. Perminov told RIA Novosti on Thursday that "nobody set such a task for the division." "We continue combat training and fulfil the earlier set tasks of strengthening the Russian frontier posts on the Tajik-Afghan border," the colonel stressed.
