Russia intends to closer cooperate with the People's Republic of China in the strategic field on the solid basis of the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Co-operation signed between the countries on July 16th, 2001.
The press service of the Russian President said that such intentions were stated in the message of congratulation sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin to General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Hu Jintao on the occasion of his election to the post.
"Russia was carefully following the 16th session of the Chinese Communist Party. It was the main political event in China. Russia welcomes the fact that China is going to preserve its foreign policy and develop relations with Russia in the same way in the future," the message stresses.
