Moscow hails the decision to admit Bosnia to PACE

Moscow hails the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to recommend the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to admit Bosnia and Herzegovina to this oldest all-European organisation as full-fledged members.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that this step testifies to the recognition of the progress which has been achieved by the Bosnian sides in translating into reality the 1995 peace agreement. The taking of such a decision, says the statement, also means that Bosnia has advanced in the matter of building statehood and in creating the mechanisms for ensuring democratic rights and freedoms.

Moscow expresses the hope that the PACE decision will raise the responsibility of the Bosnian authorities at all levels for the situation in the country. This decision will also contribute to forming a climate of confidence and mutual understanding between the Bosnian peoples, believes the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
