Putin comments on projected 2006 summit

Russia is to host a regular G-8 summit in 2006; however, it's still too early to speak about its exact location, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation told reporters.

Russia has quite a few sights that will be admired by our guests; the list of our sights includes Moscow, which is vying for the right to hold the summit, Putin added. Still Moscow is not the only attractive Russian city, he stressed.

The Russian leader also noted that President Jacques Chirac of France was unable to name the 2003 G-8 summit's exact location when G-8 leaders discussed the possibility of holding next year's summit in France.
